Challenges in Color and Kraft

I'm entering one  card in  two challenges this week, a color challenge and a craft color challenge.  The inspiration came from the netting the cantaloupe I purchased at Costco on Saturday.

I may have to start eating more Cantaloupes.

Here is the Color Challenge over at the Color Me Blog

And the Summer Challenge over at Kraft Journal Blog

My Idea was seashells and flowers-Massachusetts' beloved Cape Cod - without the lobsters.

I received this beautiful paper as a birthday gift, it is really beautiful with a pearlescent finish.  This paper is from Michaels  and I was ready to go out and buy a roll in every color.

Then I started working with it, UGH !  What a pain to cut!  Even with my Genesis Trimmer I couldn't get a straight!

I lined it with mirror paper
and mounted it on craft base card stock

The challenge was trying to figure out how to attache the netting to this different kind of paper.  I used glued

Slapped it on arranged it turned it upside down on the craft sheet and then put a book on it!

It seemed to work!

I didn't have the stamps in rubber so I created them in digital,
You can have this for your stash if you'd like just right click and save

First I did it in black and white

I added a bit of color

Then I pulled a few photos.

The star fish and the sand dollar worked for the challenge but the sea rose was not in the right color pallet.

I used my Spectrum Noirs to do the coloring

A sentiment and since this will be going to my sweet daughter in law - one of these 21st century  wonder women !  Meagan is an engineer at Boeing Aerospace and a fantastic wife to my oldest son Roy

And here is my card:

My tip today:  Try something out side of the box for a embellishment!
Thanks for stopping by!!

  1. Ah Ginny this is really lovely. Clever use of what is to hand. Necessity is the mother of invention..... or in your case availability. :)

  10. I wanted to let you know that I receive the piece of net from you and wanted to say THANK YOU! It's definitely going to help me get on the road to making the 60 beach themed ATC cards I need to make. You are so generous and thoughtful. And BTW love the leather covered book you used ... for content and for looks!
