Catching up !

Today over at the Twist of Faith Challenge blog, our challenge is a sketch challenge!!  This weeks Sponsor is BugaBoo Stamps and they have some terrific digital images!

Here is the Sketch Challenge

I love using sketches, I enjoy making them up too!  using or creating a sketch gives you a whole different handle on Stamping as an art form.  I find using sketches gives me a better composition every time, my cards look more balanced and have more eye appeal! An added plus I use my supplies much more economically - not that I save every sliver of scrap, I don't but I do USE what I have!!
My craft spending fast has been awesome, I may even be done with it!  More on that later!

Here is my card, this is a 5x6.5 size

Click over to Twist of Faith, make a card , enter a card and you may win a gift from Bagaboo!  If you don't win a stamp you will still have a great card to send some one a little cheer and encouragement!!

I'll be talking more about sketches tomorrow using Word Art Wednesday and Mojo Monday tools!
After a very hectic (but Happy) summer I am getting caught up and back into a more normal routine, I am looking forward to offering more on my blog!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

Bleach Stamping Tutorial

Today I am doing a bleach stamping tutorial over at  SpeedyTV  !  This is a fun  and simple technique and something you most likely won't have to buy supplies for! Click over to speedy and a after trying the technique enter you card and you may win Free Stamps!!

These are two great techniques especially for new Stampers, there is nothing complicated and you most likely have everything you to need already to try this out!

You are going to make two separate card for this project, but you can use the same stamps!

Here is a picture of the completed project, I like to have an idea of what I  am getting into before I get into it!    More than 50% of crafter are visual learners and have a much easier time with directions if they can see the whole picture first!  I know I sure am that way!!!

The card in Aqua is the  “High Lighted” card and the one in Browns and Blacks is the “Low Lighted” card

Here is a list of supplies:  Card stock for the card bases and card stock for layers and stamping.

I am not listing a specific recipe for these cards, I will leave your finished idea up to your creativity.  You may even just want to try this on scrap first

You will need regular household bleach, a Versamark  ink pad or a white pigment ink pad. White embossing powder, a heat tool and.  Dye based marker, adhesive, ribbon or anything else you might fancy to embellish the card.  I made my cards in a kind of a make it as you play kind of thing, you can do that or you can use a card Sketch.  Just remember to have fun while you are creating!

I prefer lots of layers giving the card nice heavy feel to it.  I also used embossing folders and an embossed front panel to give these very simple cards a touch of elegance.

For my Stamps I chose one pretty butter fly from the Marks’ Finest Papers and Stamps Set ‘Daffodil Delight’. For my ‘ High lighted card I choose a vibrant cold and for the ‘Low lighted Card I choose black.  It would be a good idea to try out your bleach on a piece of scrap, you just never know what the color will fade to!!

Cut a piece of card stock that you will be using for your stamped focal point, in my example  it is the butterfly panels. Using the white or pigment ink, stamp your  image on the card stock dust with the white embossing powder.  Tap of excess and emboss with heat tool.  You can do all your embossing at one time.

We will look at the low light first:

After heat embossing, carefully paint with bleach inside the raised area.

Give it a few minutes, or use the heat tool for a few seconds:

Isn’t that great??  I used Versa Mark ink pad on these , next time I will use white pigment ink for a more solid look in the embossing.  So much of rubber stamp art is experimenting and improvising, This really keeps things spontaneous and interesting!

Next for the ‘Highlighting:

You are simply going to fill in the non embossed space with a dye based marker!!  Keep a baby wipe or damp paper towel hand, that way if you mark on the white embossed area, you can just wipe it off!

So basically all you are doing is heat embossing two separate panels, bleach painting on one and on the other, filling in the design with dye based marker.

Here are the finished cards:

No Sentiment , I often will make a card without the sentiment and then just add one later when I prepare to give it, or put the sentiment on the inside.

Once you get the hang of it, these work up quickly and are a lot of fun!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and give it a try!

Have a great day, Ginny M

Happy Monday!!

It is a beautiful Monday Morning here in Western MA!  You can feel the Fall coming, you can see a touch of color in the leaves!  I Love the summer and the "openness" of the season: open windows, open doors, walk out side and not worry about snow or sleet....    Fall is my favorite time, I can keep the windows open and enjoy more comfortable temperatures and then there is the glorious color changes!!  I'll be out walking right after this post to enjoy the beautiful morning!!

On Mondays, Friends of Speedy TV host a challenge ; this week is simply a masculine card!
I made mine using the Big Cats Stamps.  Quick and simple for a favorite guy!!

Click on over to the FOSTV  Make and enter a card and you may win a stamp set from Marks!!

Now I'm off to walk and hopefully this week I will get caught up and back on track with my posting!!

This week the challenge had a little more personal meaning to me as I attended a beautiful weeding of a dear couple on Saturday.  Don't you just love a wedding when you feel the Bride and Groom Really, Really love each other!  It brought back many happy memories of my wedding day with Steve and all that we have grown through.  It reminded me of the Hope we Have as the Bride of Christ in the eternal Faithfulness of our Redeeming Groom and the Joy we will someday have at that wedding celebration!!

I hope you have a wonderful day!

The subject was framing, and I used a paper frame that I made with embossing folders, very simple!

Here's a fun frame for you to use  (just copy the jpg to your desk top)

You can add more contrast once you  have saved it to you computer, I love this frame and color it in soft colors that go with the season I am going to use it in.

How about saving this too and placing it in the frame?

I hope you have a great day and May God bless you and your labors!!
