Happy New Year and my micro studio!

Steve and I would like to wish you the Happiest of New Years!  We're starting our new year in our new home in New York.  Lots of 'new' for us. We're in the process of remodeling, taking care of my Father In Law, starting a new job and starting Maxam Made Studio back up.  Exciting times for us.

In the midst of all this change, there has been a heartbeat of peace that has pumped the presence and purpose of God in our lives.  We are exhausted, but we have Joy. That joy has given us a great deal of strength, emotional and physically.

This is my view from "my room"

I love the country, wide open spaces.  Deer come here all the time, it is so peaceful!

I thought it would be fun as my first post of the year to share my new little craft room!

It isn't done, I need to paint the doors and get molding up. I have to say I am very happy with this little 8.5 x11.5 space.  Eventually, we will add on and I will have a space to accommodate classes and my studio work, but for now I have this cozy work room.

It all boils down for me to one thing - what comes out of this room, and not what it is in it.   The big studio will happen some day, but every day I feel very blessed.

This room my was my Husbands old bedroom growing up, and then his mothers "morning coffee room"  This picture hung on the wall for decades and I think it was just waiting for me!

I made this in Texas as a color prompt for this room and a word for this new chapter of our lives.

Software found! The last card from Texas and a Freebie

Back in the spring, my computer crashed.  I had a backup - I back up x2 a week. But for some reason, my Photoshop Elements#10 was lost.  I had the original disk, as old as PE10 is, it is still legitimate.  But I couldn't find it - those things happen when you move cross country.  A few days ago while I was repacking I found it! But I couldn't remember how to use it - I had just started when I lost it the first time.  I really wanted to get on with making my own word art and collage type stamps.  So since I seemed to be stalled with PE, I downloaded Gimp. anyone feeling my pain?  I uninstalled gimp and forced myself to sit down and work with PE. What Little I knew came back - YaY!!

All my creative stuff is packed and ready for loading, no card making, cooking, stitching - Nada!

Here is my desk to prove it!  Word, water, todo list, a couple cards to write out and stamps to mail them.  A little bleak in the crafty sense.

I was very happy when PE started coming together for me;  Here is the image I put together,

I scrounged for scissors and found my kitchen shears were in a box not yet taped!  I wiggled 6 colored pencils out of my students supplies cabinet and a card base, a sheet of paper from a pad and a piece of black card stock.

I grabbed a little bottle of Elmer's glue for the card and to coat the butterflies:

This process and the card make me think of the old song, 'Little is much when God is in it'.   A couple more days and we hit the road, I am hoping to get a few more of these collage stamps done to leave with you while I am on the road! Here's my card:

The frame is from a sheet of paper by Bo Bunny

I carefully fussy cut the paper and created my die to fit the frame.

Here is the die I used, I will post the whole set I made down below. 

I created these because I did not want to purchase sets of dies to use in my machine.  They are too expensive, size restrictive and  time-consuming to use and keep track of - yes I am pretty lazy!

Because these are Jpegs, you can change them to any size you might need!

Bring your Jpeg into Publisher or Word:

Right click and copy your verse into your program:

Next bring your verse into your frame by grabbing the image box and dragging it into the "die"

This is so simple! 

To remove the "text" box and keep your frame intact

Right-click the frame  and this box will pop up Click the first box to keep the Digital Die on top - that way your text box will not break through the image. This is the simplest way I can explain this.  there are other ways, but for simplicity's sake, try this.

And there you go!

This is so easy, all you need is a pair of sharp scissors!
