Desk hop time again!  It starts here: http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/  Julia Dunnits' Fun world wide desk hop!!   We live in Massachusetts, and we were very blessed to not have been hit by Sandy.  We were ready, but it missed us I am very thankful!!  I had everything ready in case we lost power, about the only thing I didn't do was dig a bomb cellar!!  Unfortunately While my Husband was on base for 36 hours, I spent almost as much time eating junk food.  I'm a little toxic from it today!  But I did make a card set  , so here is my project for WOYWW#178:     I had to cut paper to start with, 2 pile : A2 size and A6 size    (this is very exciting photography)         Score , This is a very nice 80Lb Neenah classic columns in solar white.     Pick out colors   Pick out layered background papers     Find the right punches for the squares.  I still like to use my punches!     All cut up and waiting for assembly   And 3 hours and two episodes of BBC "Grand" the fin

The Storm blew right over us!!  Steve is still on duty on the base and doesn't know when he will be released. I stayed up all night re arranging stamps and papers, trying to squeeze more work room in my work room, here is a picture :       I know there is probably a better way to keep these, but when I see my stamps I use them.  This is my wood mounted  collection of Asian, Penny Black, Denami and Magenta stamps   Now I'm off to our women's bible study group.  Like the Stamps, If the Word is constantly visible to me, I am more likely to use it in my life Because the Word Is Life.   From Psalm 119: 39 mentions of the Word !   Ps 119:11  Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Ps 119:16  I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word. Ps 119:17  GIMEL. Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word. Ps 119:25  DALETH. My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word. Ps 119:28  My sou

I've been working on this card swap for a couple of days.  I had this great idea in my mind, it however took a few attempts to get it right.  How like life in general.  The theme was Asian Screens.  it could be a "made' screen or a screen of a stamp, I did both:   The Stamp:   The background ideas:         Image inked with stazon and heat embossed with black powder / didn't work/ i switched to colorbox pigment ink.  That worked great.  This is a 65lb vellum paper to hold the image and for the background I glued it to a piece of printed card stock.   Card bases tryouts:         This was a total fail!     I dry embossed  gold  and then used a red stazon ink, it looked amazing!    But it was a fail with the image!   Next try was white 140lb cold pressed paper, dry embossed and folded into a tent card. This one was the one!         Not sure why this is so tilty, no earthquake here today!  But this is the finished card 5x6 size.   The attempts at getting these cards into wh

It is WOYWW again!  click on to Julia's blog here for the whole list of world wide work desks!  http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/    My Day has been very busy and most of it at my desk.  my day started at 6am. so I got a lot done.  Here's what is happening:   This is what my desk looked like at 6:15 am   What a mess! First Bible reading,   getting ready to get cards in the mail, cards finished for the studio - signed and wrapped, find the address and get them weighed. Then because the days was going to be busy, get things finished :     I made flowers for the layer cards I made last week, distressed them a little and then added them to the cards: 40 out of the 50 have flowers, the others have ribbon.  Tomorrow I put on the sentiments.   Next the Geisha cards, added the acrylic medium and finished the cards:           I went to my Women's Study group, then walked Dogzilla. Beautiful color along the CT River.   Stamped up some images and heat embossed for a "stamp tog

What a beautiful weekend in Western Massachusetts, the weather was so nice and Steve had the weekend off.   No major commitments, just a long peaceful 3 days.   We’ve been busy repairing my computer again, and while Steve has been doing that, I’ve been making cards.   I made 50 of these butterfly cards for the studio, hopefully I will get them photo’d and in the studio store tomorrow. Early Espresso dye based ink  on ultra smooth birch 9olb paper, makes stamping easy! Butterflies colored with Glimmer Glaze, fun stuff!! More Color with distress inks The bases are 90# ivory, Script background stamp,  dry embossed, distressed edging. I can't wait to mail a few of these out, I really like how they came out. These were very calming to make and I really enjoyed the time I put into them, but in   the background of my weekend I felt the peaceful calm of knowing that no matter what there is a loving savior that watches over us, A   God who cares.   With all the politics going on it is e

I'm now using  Steve's laptop because I have blown up another computer.   At least this time I had everything backed up, or I should say Steve was able to get it backed up before it totally crashed.   I thought I'd show you the process of one of my card sets, this one is very simple.  First I have to get Dogzilla to cooperate.  I don't sleep a lot at night and I can get quite a bit done, but during the day, I have my 165lb toddler to take care of . We have to get Him from here To Here. No easy or quick task, that is 3 mile walk  and a trip to the to teh grocery store later!! So here in picture is my process of getting a set of 50 cards made.  This set required no coloring, only the focal image was brush stroked.  So this was a fast set.  In total about 4 hours. Card bases Cut from 11"x15"  140lb Cold press paper in a beautiful winter white. Bases cut to size 5.5 x 11 Each sheet is scored and then burnished for a perfect fold,

It would seem as though I'm not doing much art work during the week as my blog has been very slow.  Actually it is just the opposite! Steve and I  are opening a new web store!  Ebay's fees have gone through the roof and I can no longer afford to sell there.  So We opened a store!  Were Still working on getting items in to it but It's up and open!!  www.maxammadestudio.com   Yay!!  So my work desk has been off the hook busy!  Today I made these 50 layered faces: They are 4.5x6" and I will dress the all up tomorrow - I hope! While I was doing those the cards, Steve was working on the web stuff and had me writing blurbs for our products:  Very high tech on my side: believe it or not with my hand injury, an old fashioned pen and ink are much more comfortable to write with!!   During the card making my Genesis trimmer got quite a work out, that trimmer slice through this 100# card stock to the tiniest size like nothing!   And because I have received beautiful card from Orie
