Word Art Wednesday and a freebie background paper

Today seems to be one of those day I am going in all different directions and once and at the same time getting nowhere!  I am getting somewhere it just seems like I'm not.  Ever have on of those days?  It makes me think of the verse that says : For we walk by faith, not by sight:  So much of the time we look for the results of our actions, we look for evidence that what we are doing is good.  And we do not see it.  It is there and it is good, it just remains invisible to our perception. There is another verse that tells us:  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.   I think we need to hold on to that when it comes to our service in this life  and that which is to come.  When it comes to raising our children, building a legacy, when it comes to standing for what is right.  We shall reap blessing.

Word Art Wednesday Blog brings us s beautiful new verse every week, they are sowing the Word, grace and mercy.  I love to enter this challenge because it has a wonderful purpose and share the purpose of this blog.  I encourage you to go to the blog and read the devotion, make a card with the verse, enter the challenge and then mail the card!

Here is my entry along with a background paper for you!

Whats' on your Work Desk 282 and a freebie

Desk hop time!!  Starting here at Julia's!

My desk isn't very exciting, just busy.

I needed two cards for an Oriental Stamp Art swap, the theme was greenery.  So I wanted to try something new to me.

I used a wonderful About Art Accent stamps of a chickadee on a pine limb.

I heat embossed in gold using this background

paper ( your freebie for today)

I love green and batik!

Here is my card:

My took a blender pen and "marked" the inside area and went over that with a dark green chalk.  This gives it a bit more dimension.  I had never tried doing this with chalks before - I like it!

The black and gold back ground is lovely wrapping paper!

I hope you have time to take a peek around the world with the hop!

Where I work

It is very popular to give craft room tours on the Internet, I love browsing around in them!  I look for organizational Ideas, tips and great ideas to incorporate into my work space!
So I though I take you to where I spend a great deal of my time every day, "my room"  This is my craft room, my prayer room, my business hub, command central in my families life.  I have worked in everything from a travel trailer alcove to the beautiful studio Steve built for me.  I have always had at the least a desk and a stack of bible reference books and pen and ink. It has been my passion since 1980 to write the Word and send it out.  I have other hobbies that I take a great deal of pleasure in and enjoy with my family, but the core me is probably a scribe sitting at a desk and writing.

So my present "room" is not fancy, it is crammed and stuffed with everything I need and a little left over just in case I need something else.  I know where everything is and it is all in the state of constant rearrangement, the other core me is probably a squirrel!

This is how it is, not cleaned up, but my workspace while I am working

I work at an L shaped desk set up, the desk below is a terrific table we picked up from Craig's list about 7 years ago, it was free and like new and fit perfectly in this little 9x12 room, I use the top and underneath - with a vintage paper sorter.  That sorter holds about 16 reams of printer papers and card stocks.  What is in there is only for my printers.  My bibles are right there.  Yes, I do use electronic bibles too, our main library is in another room - these are my must haves, friends decades old.

I also love those little books you find in surprising places like the pharmacy.
Pieces in progress and cards waiting to be mailed.

Lots of daily lists keep me on track

where I write my correspondence and do the bills...

My computer and several printers, where I write and do digital design, blog and work for other businesses, more books with inspiration.  This was a closet Steve pulled out the doors, built a very strong shelf to store cases of card stock.  the table is an industrial sewing table for a  serger.  I took the serger head out and have a very sturdy table for my electronics. More stuff underneath.  I think I pretty much use every inch of space including the walls!

A corner with my electronic embosser and to the left my cricut machine

My stand up desk, I do most of my  stamping while I stand up.  I pre-cut card bases by the ream, I use 3 types of cutters.  my makeshift photo set up, I have a great light box that Steve built for me, I just need to find the space to use it - not in this room!

I hope you enjoyed this little tour a peek into my ministry!

Another Beauty

Last week I posted about beauty and used a verse from the psalms  to make a card kit for you.  This week I was asked if I could do a digital of a favorite quote for my friend Chrisann.
I said sure, I appreciate getting the help!

I thought this quote was intriguing and I wanted to find an image to go with it that would justify it.

The Quote:

Isn't that intriguing?

I selected this image

I actually cropped her a bit for modesty's sake

overlayed / this is optional of course, but you can save and print this:

and my finished 5x7 card:

The back gound paper is the same color as the portrait's eyes.  I printed this on 90# watercolor paper.

The  Word Art Wednesday Blog has given another wonderful verse to use and share!  Week after week they give us a verse and opportunity to win a terrific prize.

This beautiful verse is also transparent so you can over lay it on to an image

Here is an example of that overlay.

This photo is not one of my own. If you like this image and verse together you can down load and print this for your card making.  This has a very nice masculine feel to it.

Here is my card:

Guy Card

I make a lot of masculine cards. we have a lot of men at church that I do birthdays for plus several other lists, cards for troops and Chemo Angels and I have lots of male relatives! I don't make anything cute or cartoony for anyone over the age of 10!

I do do both "religious" in nature and non "religious" cards.  I get quite a few thanks from the men in my life, they like to tell me the card was really manly and then I get a bicep shot or something, it is pretty funny.  Especially on Sunday mornings in Church!

Any way here is a nice manly card, great for occasion sand thinking of you!

Here is the transparent verse:
This is one of my Digi's

Next building the card:
a wood plank background freebie from farfarhill.blogspot.com

In an effort to save ink I cut a whole in the base

This came from Tumbler:
I inserted my verse directly on the image. I tried printing out on a separate sheet and distressing,
but it did not look right at all!

And here is a simple card
I mounted this on a 90# ecru base

These are all down loadable and re-sizeable
Hope you can use this!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Bucket List

I have a serious post today, It was  a serious though that I woke up with. I hope it is one you will consider and reflect on.

Recently on Facebook I read two posts both by friends ( real friends - people that I have a real relationship with - not "friends" I have logged into a box)  The first one was " 15 things people wished they had spent more time doing before they died.  Now that seems a little fishy because in order for it to be accurate, the reporter would have to have been having conversations with the Dead.

The Second post was some of my other friends talking about what was on their "Bucket Lists"

Now I want to tell you, I love life, I have a totally awesome marriage, great family that I enjoy, friends who love me most of the time, fruit and veggies on the table every day- I am thankful.  I am not a stoic who eats cold oatmeal every day and waits for the grimm reaper.
That being said I want to say this.

With the first posting not one Christian that commented on this mentioned they would like to spend more time in a relationship with the Lord, more time reading the Word of Life, more time spreading the gospel .

And this bucket list thing-  I get it , there are things people want to do and maybe should do them, but not if it means neglecting their soul.

My point is this the Adversary of our soul would distract us from that which brings life,

Relationship with Jesus and The Word of God

It say in Luke: It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Be Careful of your soul, you are investing in your eternity here and now.
Don't be distracted by the temporal events and promises of this life -whether it is work or play!
Walk with God and you Life will be blessed.  Know Him and you will have Peace and Joy.

I digitized two scriptures for today for you to use.

You are a light house to those in darkness. Turn up your lamp let the Word light the way!

Home again Word Art Wednesday

We've had a busy weekend, traveling and doing.  One thing about being on the go, It alwyas makes me appreciate my traveling partner even more.  My wonderful husband, he is just the best person to travel with and always appreciates the getting home as much as I do!

Today I have a scripture and a digital image for you.  I've been spending the last few hours working with a program called Gimp - It is a free program similar to photoshop. I am also working with PSE , with both of these products there is a considerable learning curve. I am finding that the Gimp 2.8 version is a very different creature from the gimp 2.2 version that I had sometime ago.  The 2.2 made me want to toss my pc on the floor and stomp on it.  With 2.8 I am finding the text to be MUCH easier to create my digi's.

If you are interested in taking a look at it you can go here: Gimp Shop   If you decide to download it take you time and read through the set up process and make sure you decline all the extra junk they want to send with it - like tool bars and other programs.  If you do that you won't have a problem.

Here is my verse for you today:

This was one of the early verses of my my bible reading and it really spoke to me about true beauty.  True beauty is the reflection of the love of God in our lives. There is only one way we can reflect His beauty, we must first spend time looking at and being with Him.  The works of our hands translate inner beauty, stability and peace. This beauty is not admired from a distance, but  blesses others where ever it goes.  Physical beauty can be diminished by  a sudden tragedy or the simple course of time.  But the Beauty which this verse describes is one of that will go with us into eternity.

My Sample card :

I am also entering this card in the Word Art Wednesday Challenge - It is anything goes this week, highlighting Our Daily Bread Designs!

I hope you will be able to use this verse and image, it is a wonderful reminder to us of what is real and eternal.

Thank you for stopping by!

Mightier than the Sea

I was reading this Morning in Psalm 93,  how God is mightier than the waves of the sea.   The entire psalm was so beautiful.  I thought I'd share this with you.  I created this to cut and paste into my journaling bible, you can do that to or make a book mark!
I hope you like this and I hope you have a great weekend!
