Monday's: a new week and a clean canvas!

I'm teaching my teen class from a book called "Success for Teens" by the editors of the Success Foundation.

This is a great book for teenagers! The book is in a workbook format and while it is not doctrinal or even "religious" it is very adaptable to the Sunday School setting.  It focuses on making small changes for the positive in our lives and how it can cause dramatic change for good over time.
I started this class in August and started making small changes my self, and now only 4 months later I am so very glad I did!!
Ever have one of those moments when you think why didn't I do this earlier?

(not me, but you get the visual)

You could also use the line from the old gospel song, "little is much when God is in it."

For example:
I decided I needed to go back to whole food eating and cooking, I mean 100% for our health sake.
So I went through the pantry and got rid of everything that wasn't a building block of something else or totally healthy.  I got rid of the Whites: white rice, white flour, white pasta, white bread, mayonnaise, miracle whip, ranch dressing, bluecheese dressing,  Cows milk cheese (we are dairy intolerant here - boo hoo). Once you cut all that stuff out, you realize how much room you have for the good stuff!
In the freezer, all premade food went.
now I make our breads from whole grain flours, pasta I make from whole grains and veggie powders. Yes I do have the time, but even when I didn't have the time I did this so you can too, only don't be like me, Stay in the wagon!!
Long grain and short grain Brown Rice, Quinoa, Spelt, Barley, Oats. loaded up in large canisters.
Raisins, dates, cranberries, cherries, apricots, prunes, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, pecans, and almonds sit on my shelves in beautiful glass jars.

We can purchase all these lovely things because we don't purchase chips and soda and crackers and cookies and cakes and donuts, boxed meals, frozen meals or go to fast food restaurants.

We eat less meat and twice the veggies and  fruits. Carb items are made from whole grains so they are healthy! We use olive oil, coconut oil and butter.  Unsulphored Molasses, raw local honey and grade B maple syrup are used in moderation and enjoyed greatly!

We made the slight shift in our eating which lead to a huge shift in our eating which lead to a giant difference in my waist line; 10 inches to be exact.

To give you an idea; This girl is holding a 50lb sack of potatoes:

This is how much weight I have lost, plus a 3 pound carrot cake!!
**53 lbs and still going**

It was painless
But
it was prayerful.

I have to tell you, because I am eating this way and exercising  - a word on that , I am 53 so you can bet I am not doing anything anyone else couldn't do! Mainly I walk and row and use an elliptical-
I am not hungry and I feel great. I am not dieting, I am eating the way I should be eating.  I am lining myself up with a more godly and respectful plan of eating for the Temple.

I am applying this slight edge principle in many other areas, I am reading the Word more every day, I am prioritizing my life and events on a healthier schedule.  If I don't take care of myself, I won't be able to take care of those that need and depend on me.  Let me help you re read that : If YOU don't take care of yourself, how will you take care of others?

God has a plan for each of our lives, following his plan for our lives brings us peace and prosperity.
When we are in sync with the goodness of God, it becomes part of our lives.
When He is our default operating system,
We run the way we are designed.
We are not bound in addictions,
We are not buried in anxiety,
We are not full of fear.
This is a lifetime Operating System and it take a lifetime to get it right.
Making slight changes guided by the Holy Sprit, can make huge differences in every area of our life!

I challenge you to take a look at your life and ask The Lord where you can start making slight changes that will add up to big differences!
