Quick Bible cover, or cover for any book!

Steve and I spent the day shopping , one of our stops was the Christian Book Store in town. He needed a new journal for 2016 and I needed a new "church" bible. I gave my other "church" bible to a guy I met while I was walking my dog in the park.  I've been lugging my Thompson Chain Reference around, which is fine, but they are expensive and heavy and I like something lighter to take around.  I still prefer a "real" bible.  I use one on my PC but I like to carry mine in hopes of someday another person saying "hey is that a bible and how can you understand it"?

I found what I was looking for, Large print, not to thick, white paper and clear print, and under 20.00.

A basic KJV

Good print on good paper

I picked out a few sheets of cardstock- you only need 2.

Drizzeled rubber cement - nothing high tech here!

Placed the paper and burnished (rubbed down the surface to insure smoothness and adhesion.
A little scissor trimming

I added a card front that I had made:

I also jazzed up my daytimer while I was at it:

I also added a thin layer of PVC protection, so it will handle getting caught in the rain!
I am happy with the out come and it only took about 10 minutes!
I'm going to have to look around to see what else I can jazz up!!
Thanks for stopping by!

Love your 'Jazzed Up' book covers Ginny :-). I have my Bible in a zippered bag I bought ages ago - like you I prefer a 'real' Bible.

Great idea sis, looks fab, can't beat the feel of the word under your fingers. Glad you added the layer of pvc as was wondering how you were going to protect it from obvious wear and tear as you carry it about. Shaz in Oz.x
lovely cover, never thought about using rubber cement, thanks for the tip. Vicky#9

Niiice. And quick..a double whammy for me! And I love the 'Why Not' card too - what a fabulous stamp, such a good sentiment! Here's hoping that this year someone will stop you and ask about the Bible...

Hi Ginny. Yep - a real paper Bible for me too. Don't even have it on my computer - although John does if I need something... That's a great easy cover - well done. I have a small NKJV which I take around with me, which is great, but I think I need to visit the optician - my arms have shrunk!!!
All the best for 2016 - and here's hoping you have the God given opportunity to share your Bible with someone else.
God bless.

Great idea. I love covering stuff too. There's something about a Bible in real paper you can't recreate digitally. Take care Zo xx 42

I love the idea of re-covering a book - I don't think I've done that since I covered my school exercise books with posters (or wallpapers!) It looks great!

Have a lovely week - see you next Wednesday.

I had planned to visit last night, but right after I linked to Julia, my electricity went off. It came back on a short time ago, so now I'm trying to catch up with everyone.

That Bible cover is beautiful, and the daytimer was a double treat, too. Both are beautiful. Happy WOYWW from #1.
