Creating a digital calling/ business card

I carry and give out business/calling cards on a regular basis.  I've had commercially printed cards but my favorite are the ones I make. This week when I attended a new church I didn't have one card to hand out to some of the people I met and would have liked exchange my information.  While I was sitting the pew the perfect design for me ( for this month) popped into my head.

I wanted a very simple and elegant card, I wanted to  make a visual statement. I wanted very little info on it: my phone number and my website.

For something like this the paper itself will have as much voice  as the image.  So I choose a 130# cold press watercolor paper.  Cold press will have a little less texture than hot press, and have a beautiful feel in the hand!

This paper is a lovely light cream color and the ink is super black - it has a toile look with  the  design.

I used a simple template in 'Publisher'

on teh water color paper, it came out perfect (for me) This nice heavy weight will make it easy to find and the image will make it easy to remember!

I choose the swallow, you might like a beautiful flower or set of wings!  With one of these beautiful images you can really make a statement about you!

Tutorial: Making Napkin Cards

Here is a fun tried and true old fashioned card making technique. Long before we had all these sumptuous patterned papers we had gorgeous napkins! For depth of color and interesting texture, you can't beat them especially for the money! Most you you may have done these so this will be an ‘Oh Yeah’ moment! Have fun! You can start with any size paper napkin - I like to pick min up at Tuesday Morning, they have a wonderful selection and are usually marked down Separate the printed surface from the tissue backing - these napkins are usually 3 layers I cut my panels to fit a light weight piece of cardstock I drizzled glue on the card stock and then added my napkin panel I found it was easier to keep the light and floaty napkin on the table and then place the gluey paper on it Gently smoothed it a little bit - remember the napkin layer is very fragile I gave it a few minutes to set up and the just added a puddle of Lineco glue. How To Restore A Vintage Rubber Stamp

I have a lovely Vintage  Magenta Cat Stamp, I'm not sure of the exact year of release, but I'm pretty sure it is about 20 years old, It appears to be in perfect condition.   But on inspection, I can feel that the rubber has gotten a little dry and "tough" and what that means is that I won't get a good impression from it.  I bet you have run into the same thing with some of your older stamps!  Don't toss the stamp, there is a way to restore them pretty easily! I have on hand the little sanding blocks you can buy for about $2.00 at the hardware store.  The are very handy in the craft room!  I gave this stamp a vigorous rubbing and then wiped off the dust with a damp wipe Next a coat of glycerin - a $4.00 drugstore item - you can also re-ink your embossing/resist pad with this! Let it sit over night and then wipe with a damp towel.  Your stamp should have that nice soft rubber texture.  Now the ink will sit on the rubber!  I inked up
