Lost Coast and Carmen's Veranda Challenge # 51

Todays'  Card is for the  "Backgrounds" Challenge running through to the 30th of April.
Here is my card and then the process - along with a few tips!

5"x7"

I used Distress Oxides on watercolor paper - I have no idea what I am doing with them yet, this just happened to work out.
My background stamp for this is Shrubbery Love this stamp, it is a great big 5.5" stamp

I did use my stamping tool, the rubber is deeply etched, and since this is going on watercolor paper, I felt like I might need more than one inking.

Which I did

I heat embossed using a fine Black embossing powder

Next, I stamped my dragonfly, and here is a tip, when you are fussy cutting, cut into the black stamped area and then re-edge with a black marker.

Colored with alcohol pens

Also, I stamped and heat embossed the dragonfly on vellum, fussy cut the wings

Another tip, color on the back side of the embossed vellum

I coasted the wings and body of the Dragonfly with nail polish, it gives it a super glossy clear coat and super fine glitter glimmer.

For my sentiment, I used the Discover stamp on a bit of the trimmed background paper and stitched on to hand dyed lace. I glued that and all the layers with Best Glue Ever

A

sprinkle of glitter in the 'Shrubs'  Look how nice these weeds look!

This is lovely, Ginny. Fabulous coloring of the dragonfly.
What an amazing card Ginny - and a great way to construct the dragonfly - I had never thought of using clear/glitter nail polish but it gives a wonderful result
