Sometimes when you think something is going to be simple

Sometimes when you think something is going to be simple it turns int to a giant  effort of trial an error,so it went with my card today.  I came home from Jury duty and thought I'll whip out a nice simple card for the  The Kraft Journal Blog Challenge. This weeks Challenge is "Earth Day".  I had tons of ideas dancing around in my my while I was sitting in the Jury pool.

Well, it really became an ordeal of trial (no pun intended) and error!

I had the idea to start with this cool packing But since it was so thick I thought maybe I should score the back to help decrease the height

I used my speedball press, these large wood blocks are a little hard for me to handle, using the press relieves all hand stress and helps me get a great image.

I used a Memento's black pigment ink, I knew the paper would really suck up the ink.

It was an epic fail!

So I went back to a regular flat paper, Trying several types:

This time I used my go to ink - Rangers' Archival

I decided on Neenah's desert storm, it is super smooth and lovely to stamp on

It worked great, just a little operator error....

Using the press, I got a good image

I used the incomplete image to test color and mediums with

First try was versa mark ink and pearl powders, the pad was a little to dry so I put a couple of dots of glycerin on my craft mat and painted the flowers with it.  Then I added the pearl powders.

It came out pretty awful, if I had a stamp positioner,  I could have stamped back over it and I think that might have looked very nice.  this photo looks much better than real life!

Next I got out my H2O's  ( why did I think I needed to add color?)

With effort and a micro pen I was able to color and add details.
My Finished card:

I like it, only problem my craft room looks like a bomb went off in it!!
Next time I won't color!!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by, I hope you go over the the Kraft Journal Blog                               and join the challenge!

I'm also entering this card in
