New stamp and revisiting old background stamps:coloring with Spectrum Noirs, Zig clean brush pens, watercolor pencils. and freebies

A couple of weeks ago I made an internet impulse purchase. I was offered a 20% off coupon through Stamp Junkies group for Brutus Monroe Brand.  Bait cast and I was caught, plain and simple I hang my head, thankfully it was only 16.00.  If there was any redeeming value to the impulse purchase, it steered me back to my collection of beautiful background stamps. I took a good look at all the beautiful stamps I have and then I re-organized them. Beautiful backgrounds are one of the things I love in stamping.  I think I got sidetracked by all the great paper I use for backgrounds.  So while I was busy with the background stamps I decided to try using a few coloring techniques with my Angie Girl stamp.  That is what I am going to share with you today.  Here is the first card and details to follow I created this sketch for my Monday CCM group Sketch challenge  Here is the  New Monroe stamp, clouds - it is a very thick clear stamp A few favorites I haven't used in

How to create a sweet vintage card . Plus a freebie!

Image
I've made a sweet vintage card using alcohol markers, distress ink and Paper Temptress papers. For my freebie, I am giving you this classic image for your card making along with a how- to for the card! I printed two of these images on 80# Heavenly white paper  -wonderful for alcohol marker coloring and Distress Inks! Right click and save for your card making. This is a masters engraving I adapted for card making. My pen  coloring selection.  I normally use Spectrum Noir at home and Touch Fives for travel I did not use a lot of different colors for this card, but I did use a lot of ink,  I was looking for a very saturated look. I colored this card as I normally would.  Colored the little girl separately, fussy cut her and added her to the main body of the card with dimensional tape. The sky was colored with  1 shade of blue and then I worked in blending solution to give it a more natural mottled look.  After the paper dried (a few minutes) I be

Painting with glue for beautiful glittery shimmer and a freebie!

Good Morning everyone!  Today I want to show you a card I made using The Best Glue Ever and super fine glitter. You know all those yummy pads of expensive designer paper, the one you are almost afraid to cut into.  The ones where you go to the store and you have a million ideas to justify buying that pad, then you get it home and think what was I going to make? Yup, I'm the same way! Sometimes I think I will make a card a certain way and then realize, well that will require a shirt box just to mail it in!  Well here is one card I made from a lovely G45 pad and it did go in the mail just fine - glitter, lovely flat glitter gave it that something special! Using glitter is a wonderful way to add something special and mailable to a card! I love to use  The Best Glue Ever  for my glittering projects,  using an acrylic block, I paint the glue on using a fine paint brush and then gently tap on my glitter:  If I miss a spot, the glue stays tacky l

Friday Verse and Beautiful Vintage Freebies

Image
Hi, Everyone!  Beautiful Friday here, I' getting ready to go out and enjoy the beautiful summer morning,  but before I do I thought I would leave these images for you and your paper crafting! Over at Christian Card Makers Group, it is Friday Word Fellowship day.  I leave a verse created by Karen Murray and given to Word Art Wednesday blog at no charge - stopover and you will find many, many more! I enjoyed making this card, although it was a challenge, I just could not get the background right! This is a vintage clip art/engraving public domain image, and I love it, except I did not like the decolletage of the neckline.  so I changed it.  Honestly, who wore dresses like that in, daytime , falling out all over the place?   you can see where I brought the neckline up a bit and lightened the image for coloring Colors First set of background papers clashed - I picked those out last night and the light obviously was not good! I tried out a

Sketch challenge and a summer freebie

Image
My Sketch challenge at 'Christian Card Makers group was fun this week.  I love using circle elements, the only problem for me making this card, I don't have any circle punches, circle dies, my hand circle cutter is still packed and I couldn't find the power cord to my Cricut. Maybe I should have waited until next week for the circles!!   Here is my card - which is also going in my 12 card challenge for the outreach ministry: Here is the Sketch if you would like to give it a try.  I like sketches, they are fun and sometimes the challenge of following a pattern really does improve your skills. I thought I'd leave you a freebie too!  Something for a nice summer card I hope you have a lovely last day of spring!   thanks for stopping by! Ginny M

Happy Rainy Monday!!

Image
I'm working on a challenge that I created at my 'Group Christian Card Makers'  This month I am hosting a 3-week challenge to get 12 cards made and sent to support a local outreach ministry with encouraging cards.  6 for ladies and 6 for men.  I've got half done: Thi is one of my favorite card making methods, I just grab a bunch of papers and sentiments and star-making cards It's a nice rainy day here and all my other work is done so I think for the next six cards I'll enjoy doing some coloring and get the project out in the morning mail.  I love making cards for a good cause! While I was doing a bit of housework earlier, I thought of this sweet verse from an old hymn: “Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear, And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears; Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
