Printing and cutting with the Cricut Explore Air


A couple of weeks ago Steve Bought me a  Cricut Explore Air, I am still very excited about this.  I upgraded from last years explore.  The main reason for my wanting one was the double "hand" that can cut and score without changing blades and housing. It may not sound like much but when I am doing a run of 150 very intricate wedding invites, having that feature really save me a lot of time and effort.   Saturday night I was on the  FB group: Cricut Design Space - this is the Cricut Diva Melody Lane's group. After spending just a few minutes there, someone mentioned the Print and Cut Feature I didn't know it even had one!  Making a long story short- you can import a graphic file to your design space, then export it to your printer, then put it into your Cricut and it will scan and cut it.   My first thought was I can sell the scan and cut!  No, not going to.  they don't exactly work the same way and what I bought the SNC for it is doing perfectly. With the Cricut it is a little different purpose in my crafting  - it is a great tool!  I knew I was totally underutilizing it!

Melody actually took the time to answer my initial inquiry and I wanted to ask so many more questions.  But instead I found a video on the process, it is actually pretty simple.
I stamped and colored an image took a picture of it and loaded it into my PC then imported it into my design space. I enlarged it and then went through the process.  and here are my results:

Didn't this come out great? It cut pretty perfectly!



I am going to make something it for my Sweet Sweet little Grandson's nursery!

What are the approximate price range for: the "Big Shot"; the "Cricut" (that your husband just bought you) and, older but still trending "Cricut" machines???
As you probably know - I've been quite ill; but, I'd really like to have more than just a "CuddleBug".
So, I'd love to know how much & where to buy them (or not buy them), please.

Tutorial: Making Napkin Cards

Here is a fun tried and true old fashioned card making technique. Long before we had all these sumptuous patterned papers we had gorgeous napkins! For depth of color and interesting texture, you can't beat them especially for the money! Most you you may have done these so this will be an ‘Oh Yeah’ moment! Have fun! You can start with any size paper napkin - I like to pick min up at Tuesday Morning, they have a wonderful selection and are usually marked down Separate the printed surface from the tissue backing - these napkins are usually 3 layers I cut my panels to fit a light weight piece of cardstock I drizzled glue on the card stock and then added my napkin panel I found it was easier to keep the light and floaty napkin on the table and then place the gluey paper on it Gently smoothed it a little bit - remember the napkin layer is very fragile I gave it a few minutes to set up and the just added a puddle of Lineco glue. How To Restore A Vintage Rubber Stamp

I have a lovely Vintage  Magenta Cat Stamp, I'm not sure of the exact year of release, but I'm pretty sure it is about 20 years old, It appears to be in perfect condition.   But on inspection, I can feel that the rubber has gotten a little dry and "tough" and what that means is that I won't get a good impression from it.  I bet you have run into the same thing with some of your older stamps!  Don't toss the stamp, there is a way to restore them pretty easily! I have on hand the little sanding blocks you can buy for about $2.00 at the hardware store.  The are very handy in the craft room!  I gave this stamp a vigorous rubbing and then wiped off the dust with a damp wipe Next a coat of glycerin - a $4.00 drugstore item - you can also re-ink your embossing/resist pad with this! Let it sit over night and then wipe with a damp towel.  Your stamp should have that nice soft rubber texture.  Now the ink will sit on the rubber!  I inked up
