New stamp and revisiting old background stamps:coloring with Spectrum Noirs, Zig clean brush pens, watercolor pencils. and freebies

A couple of weeks ago I made an internet impulse purchase. I was offered a 20% off coupon through Stamp Junkies group for Brutus Monroe Brand.  Bait cast and I was caught, plain and simple I hang my head, thankfully it was only 16.00.  If there was any redeeming value to the impulse purchase, it steered me back to my collection of beautiful background stamps. I took a good look at all the beautiful stamps I have and then I re-organized them. Beautiful backgrounds are one of the things I love in stamping.  I think I got sidetracked by all the great paper I use for backgrounds.  So while I was busy with the background stamps I decided to try using a few coloring techniques with my Angie Girl stamp.  That is what I am going to share with you today.  Here is the first card and details to follow

With all of these stamps and backgrounds I used my Go to Paper; Heavenly Whites by Paper Temptress The 120# for the bases and 80# for the back ground and stamping

 For this card project, I like the Zigs best and pencils least. So I think I'll sell the pencils and buy more stamps!

really enjoyed this post and the freebies...thank you...I own several Impression Obsession big background stamps and several Cornish hill farm (or something like that..loved that store) 6x6 stamps...I need to use them more for sure especially after seeing your BEAUTIFUL cards!

Tutorial: Making Napkin Cards

Here is a fun tried and true old fashioned card making technique. Long before we had all these sumptuous patterned papers we had gorgeous napkins! For depth of color and interesting texture, you can't beat them especially for the money! Most you you may have done these so this will be an ‘Oh Yeah’ moment! Have fun! You can start with any size paper napkin - I like to pick min up at Tuesday Morning, they have a wonderful selection and are usually marked down Separate the printed surface from the tissue backing - these napkins are usually 3 layers I cut my panels to fit a light weight piece of cardstock I drizzled glue on the card stock and then added my napkin panel I found it was easier to keep the light and floaty napkin on the table and then place the gluey paper on it Gently smoothed it a little bit - remember the napkin layer is very fragile I gave it a few minutes to set up and the just added a puddle of Lineco glue. How To Restore A Vintage Rubber Stamp

I have a lovely Vintage  Magenta Cat Stamp, I'm not sure of the exact year of release, but I'm pretty sure it is about 20 years old, It appears to be in perfect condition.   But on inspection, I can feel that the rubber has gotten a little dry and "tough" and what that means is that I won't get a good impression from it.  I bet you have run into the same thing with some of your older stamps!  Don't toss the stamp, there is a way to restore them pretty easily! I have on hand the little sanding blocks you can buy for about $2.00 at the hardware store.  The are very handy in the craft room!  I gave this stamp a vigorous rubbing and then wiped off the dust with a damp wipe Next a coat of glycerin - a $4.00 drugstore item - you can also re-ink your embossing/resist pad with this! Let it sit over night and then wipe with a damp towel.  Your stamp should have that nice soft rubber texture.  Now the ink will sit on the rubber!  I inked up
