Happy Birthday Jane Quilt and a freebie

Today is my beautiful life long friend Jane Puliski's Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Jane!
I could go on and on about how wonderful Jane is and what a blessing she has been to me and to so many other people.  We have been closer than close friends since 1981, In almost 40 years, Jane has been the embodiment of the Christian Woman, in many many ways she has been the hands of  Jesus to me and to my family.

I wanted to make a birthday gift that is really special for her.  Knowing she loves flowers and birds and botanicals,  I thought of a pattern I had and thought it would be perfect.

I will show you the finished wall quilt first then if you are interested in machine embroidery, go into more details.  Unfortunately, I did not take a good finished picture of is because I was in such a hurry to get it in the mail I forgot!

This is a "Tile Quilt" from Annita Good Design ( Steves 50th birthday is the title)
The fabric is Moda French General

I did the tile in a 6x6 hoop on muslin

I used a super thin fleece for batting, iron-on stabilizer under the muslin and Glad press and seal for the hooped stabilizer.

The first tile is always the teacher and the design looked great

it stitched out really well, I did not have it hooped tight enough

you can see the problem here, the feathers came too close to the edge.  I also decided on this first block I did not want to stitch out the stippling.  i/4 into the stippling, I stopped and pulled it all out!
The pulling of stitches out may have caused the shift.

I removed the stitches  on the border

The stitch holes are easy to remove with a damp towel

Here are all four tiles pieced together:

I wanted the "join" to look as seamless as possible so once It was pieced and pressed really, really well, I took it to my sewing machine and free motioned missing bits using the same red rayon

.

I added a small rod pocket in the back for hanging.

This was such a labor of love!

I thought I would add a floral for you too, for card making or to use as a transfer for hand embroidery:

And because Jane is this to me:

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day and Jane if you are reading this, Happy Birthday!
