Word Art Wednesday and the last Challenge for 2016!

Happy Holidays Everyone!!  I'm sure you all are as busy As I am, can you believe the new year is two days away??  Since the only thing I did for Christmas cards this year was get my paper cut, I have a jump on next year's' Christmas Cards, my paper is cut!!  

I hope you enjoyed all the wonderful Challenges at Word Art Wednesday, I know I did and I look forward to the beautiful new devotions and Scripture verses coming our way for 2016!!
 One big change; we will have two challenges a month in 2016 instead of four.  We really have a heart here at WAW to get the word out and be a blessing to you, having a slightly lighter load will help the team and give you more time to enter the challenges - it is a win - win!!

I love this image, I think this young woman just radiates beauty!!  I really struggled with getting her skin tones close to right.  My card was attempt #5.  I am happy with how it came out!!  I did this on watercolor paper.  I tried chalks, watercolor markers and ended up using  alcohol markers and lots of blending solution!!  Her headdress is a tiny bit dimensional,  I was looking for a more realistic look.

I recently watched a You Tube video on how to make an origami Paper dress, I thought these would make the sweetest card for all occasions!  So I had a great time crafting with friends and making these adorable dress card! Tutorial: Making Napkin Cards

Here is a fun tried and true old fashioned card making technique. Long before we had all these sumptuous patterned papers we had gorgeous napkins! For depth of color and interesting texture, you can't beat them especially for the money! Most you you may have done these so this will be an ‘Oh Yeah’ moment! Have fun! You can start with any size paper napkin - I like to pick min up at Tuesday Morning, they have a wonderful selection and are usually marked down Separate the printed surface from the tissue backing - these napkins are usually 3 layers I cut my panels to fit a light weight piece of cardstock I drizzled glue on the card stock and then added my napkin panel I found it was easier to keep the light and floaty napkin on the table and then place the gluey paper on it Gently smoothed it a little bit - remember the napkin layer is very fragile I gave it a few minutes to set up and the just added a puddle of Lineco glue. How To Restore A Vintage Rubber Stamp

I have a lovely Vintage  Magenta Cat Stamp, I'm not sure of the exact year of release, but I'm pretty sure it is about 20 years old, It appears to be in perfect condition.   But on inspection, I can feel that the rubber has gotten a little dry and "tough" and what that means is that I won't get a good impression from it.  I bet you have run into the same thing with some of your older stamps!  Don't toss the stamp, there is a way to restore them pretty easily! I have on hand the little sanding blocks you can buy for about $2.00 at the hardware store.  The are very handy in the craft room!  I gave this stamp a vigorous rubbing and then wiped off the dust with a damp wipe Next a coat of glycerin - a $4.00 drugstore item - you can also re-ink your embossing/resist pad with this! Let it sit over night and then wipe with a damp towel.  Your stamp should have that nice soft rubber texture.  Now the ink will sit on the rubber!  I inked up
