REJECTED!!

Yep, my beautiful challenge #199 for OSA was rejected ( I heard you, 'I told you so')  Okay well technically the background was disqualified.  I wasn't supposed to use the image just the colors and in all fairness I think I knew that from the beginning.  So I did want to submit something and I made a new card.  very similar to the first. With the second entry however I used glossy cardstock and a brayer which I had to make a note to self "do this more often" the background came out really pretty.  I did take more photos but somewhere in the events of he days I lost them from my camera.



I tried embossing a flourish , but it was to dominate and I wasn't able to stamp over it well.  So I used a MS glittery pearl paint, brushed it on to my Bamboo background stamp and stamped.  That had the right look and texture.  It didn't over power the bird and it was easy to stamp over.


I added a diamond glitter paint to it, it is drying in these pictures , still looks a little globby .


I used a Neenah solar white 100# for the bases.
My Husband is being so kind to use his day off to light up my life in yet another manner, more lights in my studio!!  He Is Just the BEST!!

Tutorial: Making Napkin Cards

Here is a fun tried and true old fashioned card making technique. Long before we had all these sumptuous patterned papers we had gorgeous napkins! For depth of color and interesting texture, you can't beat them especially for the money! Most you you may have done these so this will be an ‘Oh Yeah’ moment! Have fun! You can start with any size paper napkin - I like to pick min up at Tuesday Morning, they have a wonderful selection and are usually marked down Separate the printed surface from the tissue backing - these napkins are usually 3 layers I cut my panels to fit a light weight piece of cardstock I drizzled glue on the card stock and then added my napkin panel I found it was easier to keep the light and floaty napkin on the table and then place the gluey paper on it Gently smoothed it a little bit - remember the napkin layer is very fragile I gave it a few minutes to set up and the just added a puddle of Lineco glue. How To Restore A Vintage Rubber Stamp

I have a lovely Vintage  Magenta Cat Stamp, I'm not sure of the exact year of release, but I'm pretty sure it is about 20 years old, It appears to be in perfect condition.   But on inspection, I can feel that the rubber has gotten a little dry and "tough" and what that means is that I won't get a good impression from it.  I bet you have run into the same thing with some of your older stamps!  Don't toss the stamp, there is a way to restore them pretty easily! I have on hand the little sanding blocks you can buy for about $2.00 at the hardware store.  The are very handy in the craft room!  I gave this stamp a vigorous rubbing and then wiped off the dust with a damp wipe Next a coat of glycerin - a $4.00 drugstore item - you can also re-ink your embossing/resist pad with this! Let it sit over night and then wipe with a damp towel.  Your stamp should have that nice soft rubber texture.  Now the ink will sit on the rubber!  I inked up
