The Intrinsic you



I normally don't offer a freebie in the beginning of the post, but I thought since this is the most important thing said in this post, I will give it it's rightful place!

I have have been teaching the bible to women and children for the last 34 years I have also been teaching rubber stamping and "word" art just as long - what a privileged life I have had, to have had so much opportunity to pursue my passion, along with everything else these decades have been spanned,  Marriage, Family,Jobs, Children, Friendships, Church.  It has been very rich and very rewarding.   I have to say, the whole way, God has made me able, He called me and was faithful in helping me accomplish dreans with  the gifts he gave me!  I ask my Sunday school young adults, what comes first , the gifts Gods gives us, or our  desire to fulfill a passion? What do you think?

I am teaching a color theory class right now in an online venue,  the very first exercise is to find the intrinsic you, not your roles in life, but to explore your "core person".  Then to write to her , Dear ____  This is what I like about you....
What about you?  Are you in touch with your intrinsic you?  Have you lost her in all the role fulfillment of your life?  Who is the real you- that mother, wife, sister, daughter, teacher (etc) spins around.  The you that longs for a voice to express the gifts God has placed within you?  Think about her and start writing to her...

I recently watched a You Tube video on how to make an origami Paper dress, I thought these would make the sweetest card for all occasions!  So I had a great time crafting with friends and making these adorable dress card! These three are my favorites: I used an old Stampin' Up background stamp for the background on most of these. I left the sentiment off, for now, that way I can turn these into whatever I need them to be when I get ready to send it! I used the Best Glue Ever to hold the layers and the dresses- worked great!  This adhesive allows the folded paper to keep its spring by not soaking into the fibers - no wet spots showing through or dents. Tutorial: Making Napkin Cards

Here is a fun tried and true old fashioned card making technique. Long before we had all these sumptuous patterned papers we had gorgeous napkins! For depth of color and interesting texture, you can't beat them especially for the money! Most you you may have done these so this will be an ‘Oh Yeah’ moment! Have fun! You can start with any size paper napkin - I like to pick min up at Tuesday Morning, they have a wonderful selection and are usually marked down Separate the printed surface from the tissue backing - these napkins are usually 3 layers I cut my panels to fit a light weight piece of cardstock I drizzled glue on the card stock and then added my napkin panel I found it was easier to keep the light and floaty napkin on the table and then place the gluey paper on it Gently smoothed it a little bit - remember the napkin layer is very fragile I gave it a few minutes to set up and the just added a puddle of Lineco glue. How To Restore A Vintage Rubber Stamp

I have a lovely Vintage  Magenta Cat Stamp, I'm not sure of the exact year of release, but I'm pretty sure it is about 20 years old, It appears to be in perfect condition.   But on inspection, I can feel that the rubber has gotten a little dry and "tough" and what that means is that I won't get a good impression from it.  I bet you have run into the same thing with some of your older stamps!  Don't toss the stamp, there is a way to restore them pretty easily! I have on hand the little sanding blocks you can buy for about $2.00 at the hardware store.  The are very handy in the craft room!  I gave this stamp a vigorous rubbing and then wiped off the dust with a damp wipe Next a coat of glycerin - a $4.00 drugstore item - you can also re-ink your embossing/resist pad with this! Let it sit over night and then wipe with a damp towel.  Your stamp should have that nice soft rubber texture.  Now the ink will sit on the rubber!  I inked up
