Coloring and Word Art Wednesday and Our Daily Bread challenges and a freebie

I finished sorting my Alcohol Markers, and took my chalks off ebay, What was I thinking?  I will use those for my bible journaling along with my colored pencils!

I know picked and easy item to color- I needed easy!  I have colored in the past but with the same attitude I have when I am the first person to skate on a newly frozen pond.  It is a little silly to be a little terrified of a magic marker, but I am.

I was never one of those kids that loved to color, I liked my crayons in perfect order and I liked the coloring books nice and clean.

I took my image ( and you can save both of these)

Morphed it into this:

and began coloring

I probably should have found  a picture of a Zuni pot so I had some idea of what I was doing - next time.  The paper I used was a very nice 110# smooth offset paper and worked well - yes my Canon Pixma will print  on something that heavy!  Tip- Print in gray scale.
I had no bleeding of color what so ever.  I started working this like I would a colored pencil technique and then I remembered , can't do that with alcohol markers - work one small area at a time.

It seemed like I used alot of markers for this and it did take me about 15 minutes to color these pots - in my world that is a long time.  BUT I really enjoyed the process.  I have a copic book on coloring and I will take the time to read it and practice.

I made pots and then fussy cut them

picked out a background paper from my stash and did a little distressing- I love Tim Holtz distress inks, there is nothing else quite like them and the colors are fabulous!

I added my pots and for shading I actually used my ice gray2 (IG2 Spectrum Noir) marker and shadowed the natural shadow of the pots on the paper, that was kinda cool....

I stamped and added my sentiment a little fiber and here is my finished card:

I have to say, I really enjoyed this, it was very nice to sit and relax and just color!

We are down to 8 days before the wedding and Relaxing felt really good!!

Absolutely lovely, Ginny. You are SO talented with the coloring process. I don't have that talents, so I always appreciate it in others. You also have quite a lovely collection of coloring markers. I was drooling just a bit...LOL

Thanks SO MUCH for sharing your beautiful card in our challenge this week. It's always a joy to have you play along, but I'm super excited to have you on board.

Since you used Tim Holtz Inks (which CropStop carries), it would be AWESOME to have you link this up over at their challenge. They need more entries. Here is a link:
